Since joining the Lakeside campus in January 2023, Scott “Flip” Flipse has been a fantastic addition to the community and an employee who embodies our CHRIST Promises every day.
Flip exemplifies our CHRIST Promises each time he is in the community – especially through his interactions and relationships with co-workers, residents, and family members.
According to his peers and nomination forms, Flip has built strong, trusting relationships with his co-workers and the residents at Lakeside. The residents absolutely love Flip. Residents can often be overheard saying how much he helps them and how approachable he is.
Flip is a genuine relationship builder. Recently, we had a memory support resident who had transitioned through levels of care with whom Flip built a strong connection. This resident would light up when she saw him coming, and they would visit each other each time. Flip understood the importance of his presence to this resident. He would even visit with the resident after he clocked out for the day before going home. They developed a very special bond.
Flip has a couple of inside jokes/games that he plays with residents that can make you laugh. One of our assisted living residents always hugs the wall when he walks by, acting like they are having a heart attack and wants Flip to rescue them. This inside joke/game has been so convincing that an AL team member has jumped out of their chair to help the resident, only to discover that it’s part of the game they are playing with Flip.
Flip participates in community events and activities such as the talent show. The community appreciates his willingness to share his talents with his Lakeside family. At this year’s talent show, not only did Flip present an emotional performance, but he entertained the residents afterward by playing the piano.
Flip is a team player, and he will take it upon himself to come in early or work late to ensure the residents' needs are taken care of. One peer stated, “Flip is always here.” Flip has a heart of gold, and his actions at Lakeside keep the residents' well-being at the top of their minds.
An area that Flip excels in is working hard to build relationships and then maintaining them. You never hear Flip complain about anything. He’s always happy, upbeat, easy to talk to, and willing to make himself available to help when he is able. Flip has a phenomenal work ethic, and we are so thankful that he’s here and part of the Lakeside team.
Flip is an employee who truly embodies our CHRIST Promises daily and makes Lakeside a better place to live and work.
