Who we are
Our mission in action
Since 2011, Immanuel’s Foundations have been actively supporting our internal and external communities. This support includes awarding student scholarships to our part-time team members, granting money to local organizations making a difference, and raising funds for campus enhancements. The foundations are proud to be involved of all aspects of Immanuel’s mission.
The Immanuel Foundations
Using our resources to impact the lives of others
Our founding charter, created on October 8, 1887, set the course for Immanuel’s future:
“The object of this corporation shall be the relief of sick and suffering, the care and education of orphans and neglected children, the support of widows and aged persons, without reference to creed, color, or nationality, and the establishment of hospitals, homes, and other institutions for such works of mercy.”
Immanuel Community Foundation
Since 2011, the Immanuel Community Foundation has embraced its role to support Immanuel’s residents, participants, and team members in a variety of ways.
Whether it’s through life-long learning, campus enhancements, student scholarships, or providing financial support in a crisis situation, the ICF embodies Immanuel’s mission of Christ-centered service to seniors, each other, and the community.
It might be the day when someone needs a helping hand, or it might just be another Tuesday, but the ICF team is ready to help through:
- Life-long learning opportunities
- Community/center improvements & amenities
- Mission-driven activities
- Team member scholarships
- Resident Assistance Fund
- Helping Hands Fund & more!
Immanuel Vision Foundation
Since 2015, the Immanuel Vision Foundation has provided financial support to nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations whose missions align with our own. More specifically, those that:
“Meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of seniors, respond to needs in community health, and support the ministry of the Church.”
This is done through:
- An annual spring grant cycle for nonprofits in the community
- Quarterly grants for Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) congregations
- An annual fall grant cycle for ELCA-affiliated organizations
Our impact
As the largest nonprofit provider of retirement living and senior care in Nebraska and Iowa, we believe that together, we can greatly impact our communities by helping those in need or those who aspire to change their communities for the better. Making a difference
While most think of the financial impacts that foundations provide, the Immanuel Community Foundation strives to also provide life-enriching, educational, and fun events. From music to art, animal interactions to life-long learning, our Immanuel Community Foundation Presents is a resident and participant favorite series provided at no cost to all of our communities and centers. In addition, our annual movie nights make evenings seem just a little more magical in our communities.
It’s like a classic drive-in movie theater without the cars. In the fall, the Foundations team visits our communities to create an outdoor movie experience complete with freshly popped popcorn, theater candy, and a huge movie screen showing a classic movie or a modern hit.
No one is ever too old to learn something new. Several times a year, the Immanuel Community Foundation Presents series visits every community and center, bringing exciting life-long learning opportunities. From baby kangaroos to classical music to magic, there truly is something for everyone.
Immanuel has a robust music ministry program that the Immanuel Community Foundation is happy to support. Grand pianos for community rooms or chapels and mobile digital keyboards for memory support units have been a recent focus. Music touches the heart and evokes memories that are so important.
Expressing their own uniqueness is important to each of Immanuel’s communities and centers. The Immanuel Community Foundation works to support each community's gardens, sculptures, and artwork to chapel enhancements, shuffleboard tables, and more, so they can be their best selves.
Our residents recognize the power of higher education. Partnering with residents in several of our communities, the Immanuel Community Foundation helps facilitate and administer an annual scholarship program that awards part-time workers with scholarship dollars to help offset the rising costs of higher education.
