During Lent, Lakeside's Green Team challenged residents to declutter with purpose. Beginning on Wednesday, February 18 (the first day of Lent), residents were encouraged to remove one item from their closet each day that they no longer wore or needed and place it in a provided trash bag over the next 40 days.
The Green Team also collected clean textiles, including bed sheets, blankets, bedspreads, pillowcases, fabrics, and worn or stained clothing. Residents placed their donations outside their apartment doors on Thursday, April 2 (the 40th day). Members of the Green Team then collected the donations for The Clothes Bin.
In 2026, the Green Team collected 114 bags of donated items, surpassing last year’s total of 102 bags in 2025.
