In honor of Pride Month and Immanuel’s commitment to inclusion, the Des Moines-area locations participated in the Capitol City Pride Parade for the first time!
On Sunday, June 8, our staff from each location brought our families and joined a couple of our residents, who participated by marching or riding along on the Deerfield bus.
We all have various reasons for participating. Some of us are allies of the LGBTQ community, and others are members. But the one thing that unites us is that we are all Immanuel.
It was our way of letting the Des Moines area know that Immanuel is committed to including these identities in our workforce, communities, and programs!
As part of our participation, we celebrated a resident’s 89th birthday. When asked why she wanted to join in the festivities, she said that she had never done anything like this before and wanted to do it in honor of her granddaughter. And just like that, another ally was born!
It was a festive day, to be sure! Thank you to all who participated; we look forward to seeing more of you next year!
