    Deerfield celebrates veterans at special recognition event

    Deerfield residents and staff gathered to celebrate veterans, especially those from our Deerfield (Urbandale, Iowa) community.

    On Veterans Day (November 11), Deerfield residents and staff gathered to celebrate our nation’s veterans, especially those from our Deerfield community.

    The program included patriotic music and a panel discussion featuring three Deerfield residents who shared their perspectives on military service: one who served in the Army, another in the Navy, and a third who shared her experiences on the home front during her husband's 20-year career in the Air Force. All attendees also had an opportunity to recognize their loved ones who had served in our armed forces.  

    Residents and staff loved hearing their peers' stories from enlisting or being drafted, basic training, and deployment, their roles and unique experiences in the service, communicating with loved ones, and their transitions to life after discharge.
