Immanuel residents award $269,650 in scholarships to student employees
August 14, 2025
Immanuel residents came together once again to support the educational goals of student employees – and they set a new record doing it. Across six Immanuel retirement living communities, residents awarded a total of $269,650 in scholarships to 64 student employees, the highest amount in the history of the Resident Scholarship Program.
The 2025 recipients include 27 college students and 37 high school students, each receiving funds to help cover tuition and other education-related expenses. The largest individual scholarship – $12,360 – was awarded to a high school student at The Landing.
Funded entirely by residents, the Resident Scholarship Program is a unique example of how retirement living communities can make a lasting impact. These scholarships not only provide financial support, but also reflect the strong relationships formed between residents and the young people who work alongside them.
“I want to sincerely thank you for the scholarship I was able to receive. I feel incredibly proud to be part of such a generous and caring community,” said Shee Say, an Assisted Living Care Partner at The Landing.
Ryan Austin, a server at Deerfield, said he was grateful to the residents for encouraging him in his goals for higher education.
“The impact of receiving a scholarship not only helps me immensely in the financial department, but it also lets me know that the residents are behind me,” Ryan said.
Emily Tonniges, Executive Director of Immanuel Foundations, shared: “This record-setting year is a powerful reflection of the generosity and values of Immanuel residents. Their support sends a clear message to student employees: your hard work is seen, appreciated, and worth investing in.”
Immanuel’s Resident Scholarship Program continues to grow each year, strengthening the connection between generations and reinforcing how Immanuel serves with compassion and purpose for more than 15 years.
