Giving back during National Assisted Living Week at The Landing

National Assisted Living Week is always a time for reflection, gratitude, and celebrating the heart of community life.

This year, residents and team members at The Landing chose to honor the week by giving back in a hands‑on, meaningful way. Together, they assembled 10 baby care kits to be delivered to Lutheran World Relief, supporting newborns and families in countries facing poverty, disaster, conflict, or rebuilding through global partnerships.

Putting the kits together was simple work, but it carried a lot of love. Each baby care kit includes two T‑shirts, two sleepers, four cloth diapers, two diaper pins, two receiving blankets, a hand towel, a jacket, two bars of soap, and two pairs of socks. These basics may seem small, but for a mother welcoming a new baby under difficult circumstances, they can make an enormous difference.

In a year themed “Shining Through the Years,” this project became a beautiful reminder that our community’s light doesn’t fade — it grows. When residents and team members work side by side, their kindness shines far beyond our walls, reaching families who need a little brightness as they welcome a new life into the world.
