The Lighthouse, an award-winning cornerstone of long-term care and skilled nursing in Omaha, Nebraska, unveiled its latest expansion: An 18-suite neighborhood addition called The Shores.
With the opening of The Shores and a planned series of transformative renovations coming in the future, Immanuel’s Lakeside campus continues to expand its continuum of resident care.
The Shores neighborhood officially opened on October 1, 2024, and introduced 18 private suites to create a better resident and staff experience. Each suite offers an environment where privacy, dignity, and comfort are paramount. With features like private European-style showers, natural light, layered shades, and upgraded lighting, residents enjoy a calming and functional living space.
Every suite also includes innovative ceiling lifts, which allow staff to provide care with safety and independence in mind. These lifts, combined with features like laminate flooring and a furnished living area (complete with a bed, recliner, and guest chair), create a luxurious and personalized environment.
The Shores neighborhood joins the existing neighborhoods – The Cove and The Dunes – serving as a long-term rehab/skilled nursing household, and ensuring that residents receive specialized care tailored to their unique needs.
“We are incredibly proud to open The Shores as a commitment to our residents and Immanuel’s mission,” said Julie Kaminski, Immanuel’s Chief Operations Officer. “The expansion allows us to serve more individuals in a personalized way and in a state-of-the-art living environment. Our team has worked tirelessly to bring this vision to life, and we are excited to see the positive impact it will have on the Lakeside community.”
In addition to the new suites, The Shores features an expanded therapy gym equipped with cutting-edge rehab equipment and a dedicated outdoor therapy garden. This area is designed to help residents regain strength and independence through personalized therapy programs. The garden, featuring multiple surfaces, stairs, and soft flooring, supports rehabilitation and provides an inviting space for outdoor relaxation.
“Our team is truly excited to offer these new spaces to our residents,” said Allen Cress, Associate Executive Director of The Lighthouse. “The advanced therapy gym and outdoor garden offer residents a space that not only supports physical rehabilitation but also enhances their overall well-being in ways that are both practical and uplifting.”
The Shores is just the beginning. Renovations are underway in the existing Cove and Dunes neighborhoods, which also have 18 suites each. These upgrades, set to be completed by July 2025, will modernize key areas such as the dining rooms, salon, recreation spaces, and even the installation of two stunning 175-gallon double-sided fish tanks.
The renovated Cove neighborhood will feature an updated kitchen, salon, and office corridor, while Dunes will introduce a chapel, a new recreational therapy room, and enhanced office spaces.
As these changes take shape, The Lighthouse upholds Immanuel’s vision: that all people will grow and age with dignity, safety, and wellness. With these enhancements, it’s clear that The Lighthouse is setting a new standard in long-term and skilled nursing care.
