In Immanuel’s communities, mealtime is an opportunity for residents — and staff — to nurture connections, foster joy, and create memorable experiences.

For Scott Wiese, Director of Culinary Development at Immanuel, dining isn't just about serving food — it's about building relationships and celebrating teamwork.

"For me, and I believe for our residents, dining is at the core of what we do at Immanuel,” Scott said. “We see some of our residents 365 days a year, three times a day. So, it truly is at the heart of our service to the residents."

Working at Immanuel isn't just a job for Scott; it's a journey filled with unexpected opportunities and meaningful experiences. An example of this, he said, is the Immanuel Culinary Cup — a cooking competition that brought together culinary talents from different Immanuel campuses.

"The culinary cup, it's something that wouldn't have happened in my career in any other organization that I've worked with,” Scott said. “So for me, it was part of what makes Immanuel special, and part of what makes my department special is that we could come together and celebrate the teams and really do something memorable."

The Culinary Cup also gave the chefs from different campuses a chance to connect on a personal level. Through events like the Culinary Cup, Scott said Immanuel continues to embody its commitment to excellence, teamwork, and enriching the lives of its residents.

"It was an awesome opportunity to see chefs from different campuses who only really get to interact with each other maybe once a month if that, and spend some time and really get to know each other as people,” he said. “I think that cross-pollination is really going to benefit us as an organization moving forward."
